Shandong Huatai Paper Co., Ltd. is one of the well-known papermaking and pulping enterprises in China. With the increasing expansion of the production scale of the enterprise, the amount of pollutants generated in the production process is also increasing. The treatment capacity of the original sewage treatment plant can’t meet its needs. Therefore, Huatai Group invested in the construction of an anaerobic wastewater treatment plant with a treatment capacity of 60,000 tons/day. Purac company provides the process and main equipment for the wastewater treatment plant. Huatai wastewater treatment plant adopts the patent ANAMET anaerobic reactor of Purac. ANAMET reactor is a reactor with high total removal rate of COD in the world today, which has the advantages of strong buffer capacity, stable water quality, low operation cost and high biogas production
The wastewater of Huatai anaerobic wastewater treatment plant mainly comes from the paper pulping workshop and BCTMP poplar pulping workshop. In addition, there is the concentrated wastewater from straw pulping. The surplus sludge of the phase II aerobic wastewater treatment plant enters the anaerobic system for digestion. In this way, about 50% of the aerobic sludge is digested, reducing the cost of sludge dewatering and disposal, recovering nitrogen and phosphorus, reducing considerable operating costs, and generating more biogas. It can replace coal to provide sufficient fuel for boilers and obtain considerable economic and environmental benefits.
