Beijing Gaoantun sludge treatment project

Beijing Gaoantun sludge treatment center project is a very large scale sludge treatment project, with daily capacity of 1,836 tons/day. The sludge comes from multiple sewage treatment plants in the surrounding area, using THP + anaerobic digestion + chamber filter press process. PURAC provides an overall process design and system integration consulting service, and at the same time responsible for equipment supplying, commissioning and other technical services of sludge anaerobic digestion system.

The project adopts eight digesters with single volume of 12,000m³, the biogas output is up to 110,000Nm³/d, which can be used to generate electricity. The project is put into operation in 2017, and its decomposition rate of VS and biogas output are over the design value, realizing the sludge reduction and resource utilization target.

Highlights:

1. The largest sludge disposal center in Beijing, with capacity of 1,836 tons/day.

2. The project treats the sewage sludge from Beiyuan, Gaoantun, Dingfuzhuang, Jiuxianqiao, Beixiaohe and other WWTP, achieved the centralized disposal and solved the difficulties of traditional sludge disposal routes, such as increasing sludge amount, limited land for new construction, the demand for air pollution control and how to recycle the organic matter in sludge, etc.

3. The project adopts the advanced anaerobic process of THP + anaerobic digestion, which makes a more thorough and efficient sludge decomposition, and realizes the reduction, harmfulness and recycling target of sludge.

4. Since 2017, the project has run stablly, with biogas daily production 110,000 Nm³, which has played a benchmarking role in promoting the sludge anaerobic digestion treatment route throughout the country.
