The capacity of this project is 1358 t/d sludge (with a solid content of 20%). The technical route is gravity concentration + sludge pretreatment + THP + anaerobic digestion + dewatering by chamber filter press. PURAC provides an overall process design and system integration consulting service, and at the same time be responsible for core equipment supply and technical services such as commissioning and test run for the sludge anaerobic digestion system. This project has been running stably for many years.

The project is located in the Gaobeidian WWTP, which is the largest project in Beijing with capacity of 1,000,000 t/d. The project introduced the THP technology, which uses high- temperature (155-170℃) and high-pressure steam to boil the sludge and instantaneous pressure relief to get the result of steam explosion flash evaporation, so that the cell walls of the sludge break and extracellular polymer hydrolyzes to improve the fluidity of the sludge. Through the THP, the TS of sludge into the digester can be greatly increased, while the HRT in the digester is reduced, so that the existing digester can handle more sludge, and the biogas production rate can be increased by 15% to 20% compare to conventional anaerobic treatment. The dewatering property of the digestate is also improved.
